Dr. Todd Gililland is a native of Tupelo, Mississippi and graduate of Ole Miss. His early interest in dentistry and orthodontics came while he was a student at Ole Miss when he took on a part-time job working for Dr. Watt Bishop, who founded this practice in 1976. While working in the office he subsequently became a patient and learned first-hand what it was like to go through the orthodontic experience.
Upon graduation from Ole Miss he was accepted to the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry where he would spend the next four years of his life. While at UAB, Dr. Gililland excelled in his academic studies finishing in the top 10 percent of his class. Additionally, he was one of two students to be awarded multiple honors at graduation accepting the Quintessence Publishing Award for Restorative Dentistry as well as for Excellence in Clinical Research.
Upon graduation from Dental School, Dr. Gililland attended the University of Texas at San Antonio for specialty training in cosmetic and implant dentistry. The University of Texas at San Antonio is rated the number one dental school in the country and Dr. Gililland was fortunate to be accepted to such an elite program to study the latest techniques for enhancing the smile. Upon graduation in the summer of 1999 he moved back to Mississippi where he practiced general dentistry and worked with Dr. Bishop in the practice part-time becoming familiar with the practice from the ground up. In the summer of 2000, he accepted a position at New York University to study orthodontics. During his orthodontic residency he learned cutting edge techniques in orthodontics as well as an advanced knowledge in digital videography and the future of orthodontics using computers. While in New York he accepted the prestigious Theodore L Jerrold Award for most exemplifying the true essence of an orthodontist voted on by all 40 faculty members as the” Resident of the Year.”
Dr. Gililland and his wife, Tiffany, reside in Oxford and they have three children - Jack, Josh, and Hayden. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, hunting, reading, and running. Dr. Gililland has grown up in this practice as a patient, assistant, and now as an orthodontist. He is dedicated to this practice and is committed to taking care of each patient as if they are his only one. He strongly believes that each child should be treated as if they were his own and makes his treatment decisions based on the individual and how we can best accomplish the best final result. Together with his talented and dedicated staff they look forward to giving each person the smile they always dreamed of!
Since first walking into my orthodontist’s office at the age of eight, I have been interested in this field. For over ten years now, I have been an orthodontist in private practice. Before that, I was a dental assistant, a general dentist, and then orthodontist within the U.S. Navy for 18 years. The benefits I immediately saw, and that were very apparent to everyone in my life following the treatment I received as a youngster, went far beyond straighter teeth. I am very privileged in that I get to see those changes in patients I care for, every day.
Creating beautiful smiles makes a real and lasting difference in a patient’s self-esteem. It builds self-confidence. It changes the way we behave in the face of the endless challenges that life throws at us. As an orthodontist, I am entrusted with building smiles. I am so very blessed to love what I do and do what I love. Whether our team and I are working with the young or those who are young in spirit, our goal is always to develop the smile of their dreams. What is more, we get to build meaningful long-term relationships with patients. When we see them in our community, leading their lives with their loved ones, we get to see them happy and smiling with confidence!
Coming into contact with so many unique people has increased my understanding of what relationships mean. It is a blessing that I never take for granted. I cannot wait to meet you and your family and help you achieve the smile that will transform the rest of your life.

The newest medical and scientific knowledge has to be incorporated into treatments. Proven and reliable improvements in technology have to be adopted as soon as they become available.

Active involvement with other practitioners, researchers, and educators in my professional community is invaluable. It affords me exposure to technological advances, best practices, and the widest collective understanding within the discipline. The knowledge and experience I obtain from working with others, attending seminars, and reading about others’ work, is something that I am then able to pass on to those I serve. As part of this community, I have also contributed written work that has appeared in the Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, the official journal of the American Association of Orthodontists.
